Quick answer

To serve a business through its registered agent in Plantation, confirm the current agent on Sunbiz, then have a process server deliver the papers to an authorized employee at the registered office. For CT Corporation and NRAI that office is 1200 South Pine Island Road, Plantation, FL 33324. The return of service should name the agent, the employee who accepted, and the date, time and address.

What Registered Agent Service Plantation Means Here

"Registered agent service" can mean two different things. Some companies sell a service where they act as your business's registered agent. That is not what we do. Golden Process Service is a process serving company, and this page is about delivering legal papers to a registered agent on behalf of the party bringing the case.

Every Florida corporation and LLC must name a registered agent with a physical Florida address. The agent's job is to receive lawsuits and other process for the company. When you sue a business, serving its agent is usually the cleanest way to bring it into the case, and the one least likely to be challenged later.

Our work here covers summonses and complaints, subpoenas directed to a company, garnishment writs and other documents that must be served on an entity. We handle these from our office at 9715 W Broward Blvd, Suite 322, which is why registered agent service Plantation jobs are among the most frequent we run.

Key takeaways

  • C T Corporation System and National Registered Agents, Inc. are both listed on Sunbiz at 1200 South Pine Island Road, Plantation, FL 33324.
  • Check the entity's current agent on Sunbiz the day you serve. Pleadings are often drafted from an outdated record.
  • §48.081 covers corporations, §48.062 covers LLCs and partnerships, and §48.091 requires corporations to keep a registered agent and office.
  • The return of service should name the employee who accepted for the agent, plus the date, time and address.

The Agents at 1200 South Pine Island Road

Both of Wolters Kluwer's Florida registered agent entities use the same Plantation address. Because so many national and out-of-state companies name one of them, a large share of suits against corporations registered in Florida are served at this one building.

National Registered Agents, Inc. (NRAI)1200 South Pine Island Road, Plantation, FL 33324Serving NRAI

Use the agent's name exactly as Sunbiz shows it. NRAI's legal name is National Registered Agents, Inc., and CT's Florida agent entity appears as C T Corporation System. You can read more about the parent company at Wolters Kluwer.

Older Sunbiz filings sometimes show outdated addresses, such as a Pine Road suite number for NRAI or a West Broward Boulevard address for CT from decades ago. Do not serve from those. The current address for both is 1200 South Pine Island Road. Our 1200 South Pine Island Road page covers the location in more detail.

Florida Law: §48.091, §48.081 and §48.062

Service on business entities is governed by Chapter 48, Florida Statutes. Three sections do most of the work when the target is a registered agent.

§48.091 requires every Florida corporation, and every foreign corporation qualified to do business here, to designate a registered agent and registered office and to keep that office open so process can be served there. This is why an agent like CT Corporation keeps staff on site to accept papers.

§48.081 covers service on corporations. It allows service on the registered agent and sets out other people who may be served, such as officers and directors, when the agent cannot be served. Getting that order wrong is a common basis for a motion to quash.

§48.062 covers limited liability companies and partnerships. The structure is similar: the registered agent first, with listed alternatives such as a manager or member when the agent cannot be served.

Two more sections matter for every serve. §48.031 covers personal and substitute service on individuals, which comes up when you must serve an officer or manager at home. §48.21 sets out what the return of service must contain. For a statewide overview, see our guides on serving registered agents in Florida and how to serve an LLC in Florida.

Step One: The Sunbiz Lookup

Before any registered agent serve, look the entity up on Sunbiz, the Florida Division of Corporations database. Search by entity name and open the detail page. We run this check again on the day of service, because a change can be filed at any time.

On the detail page, check these items:

  • Exact entity name and document number. Match the name in your summons to the record, including "Inc." versus "LLC".
  • Status. Active, inactive, or administratively dissolved. An inactive status changes your options.
  • Registered agent name and address. This is who gets served and where.
  • Filing history. Look for a change of registered agent, a resignation of agent, or a recent annual report that updated the agent.
  • Officers, directors, managers. Note their names and addresses in case a fallback is needed.

For a foreign company, Sunbiz shows its Florida registration and Florida agent. If the agent listed is CT or NRAI in Plantation, that is where the Florida case should be served. For a company with no Florida registration at all, see serving out-of-state defendants.

Send Work

How the Serve Works at the Agent's Office

1. Agent confirmed on Sunbiz

We pull the entity's current registered agent and address the day of service and flag any mismatch with your summons before the server leaves.

2. Delivery at the registered office

The server delivers the papers during business hours to an employee authorized to accept process for the agent.

3. Details recorded

The server notes the accepting employee's name and title, the entity served, the date, the time and the address.

4. Signed return of service

You receive a signed return of service with those details, ready to file with the court.

What to send us: the issued summons for each entity, the complaint and any exhibits, and the entity's exact name. If you are serving several entities that share CT or NRAI as agent, send a separate set for each one. Each entity is a separate service and gets its own return.

Upload documents on our Send Work page or email service@goldenprocess.com. Pricing is flat-rate and listed on the rates page; call (888) 766-7497 for a specific quote.

What the Return of Service Should Say

The return is the only part of the serve a judge reads. Under §48.21 it must state the date and time the server received the papers, the date and time of service, the manner of service, and the name of the person served. For a registered agent serve, ours also shows:

  • The defendant entity's full legal name as it appears on Sunbiz.
  • The registered agent's name, such as C T Corporation System.
  • The name and title of the employee who accepted for the agent.
  • The full service address, including 1200 South Pine Island Road, Plantation, FL 33324 where it applies.
  • The documents served, listed so there is no question about what was delivered.

A vague return, such as one that says "served registered agent" with no name, invites a motion to quash. Our guide to the Florida return of service covers the requirements in more detail.

When the Agent Resigned or the Entity Is Inactive

Registered agent serves go wrong for predictable reasons. The agent resigned and the company never appointed a new one. The company changed agents after the complaint was drafted. Or the entity was administratively dissolved for not filing an annual report.

Each of these shows up on Sunbiz. When it does, Chapter 48 provides fallback options, such as serving an officer, director, manager or member, and in some situations other statutory alternatives. Which applies depends on the entity type and what the diligence shows, so we document every step for the record.

Our guides on what to do when a registered agent cannot be served and how to serve a registered agent in Florida walk through the options. If the officers themselves are hard to find, our skip tracing in Plantation can locate them.

Registered Agent Service Plantation FAQs

Does Golden Process Service act as my company's registered agent?

No. This page is about serving legal papers on a registered agent. Golden Process Service delivers lawsuits, subpoenas and other process to the registered agent a business has named on Sunbiz, then returns a signed return of service.

Where do CT Corporation and NRAI accept service in Plantation?

Sunbiz lists both C T Corporation System and National Registered Agents, Inc. at 1200 South Pine Island Road, Plantation, FL 33324. Older records may show other addresses, so confirm the current agent on the entity's Sunbiz page before serving.

What if the registered agent has resigned or the entity is inactive?

Check the entity's Sunbiz filing history for an agent resignation, a change of agent, or a dissolved or inactive status. Chapter 48 then sets out fallback options, such as serving an officer, director or manager. Golden Process Service documents what it finds so the alternative method is supported.

Can I mail papers to a registered agent instead?

Mailing papers is not a substitute for service of process on a Florida business. Chapter 48 contemplates delivery to the agent or another authorized person, and the return of service is how you prove it. Mail leaves you without that proof.

Who at the registered agent's office can accept service?

Large agents such as CT Corporation and NRAI have employees authorized to accept process on the agent's behalf. The server records that employee's name and title, the date, the time and the address on the return of service.

Do you serve registered agents outside Plantation?

Yes. Golden Process Service serves registered agents throughout Florida, including Corporation Service Company and Cogency Global in Tallahassee, Corporate Creations Network in North Palm Beach, and Registered Agents Inc. in St. Petersburg.

How much does it cost to serve a registered agent in Plantation?

Registered agent serves are flat-rate. Current pricing is on our rates page, or call (888) 766-7497 for a quote.
